Max Taves is founding Principal of Synthesis Media LLC and the Vice President of Los Angeles’ National Association for Business Economics .

A widely published, cited and translated economics and technology writer, he has a deep, first-hand understanding of the media landscape.

After working as a venture capital columnist and reporter for CBS’ CNET and as a columnist and reporter for The Wall Street Journal, Taves entered the world of brand and content strategy.

The winner of a first place award for business reporting by the California Newspaper Publishers Association, among other honors, Taves has created media messaging for corporate rebrands and a 10-figure acquisition. And he has helped to position some of the biggest and best-known brands in venture capital, health care, technology and entertainment, including Family Guy, Futurama and Peanuts.

He studied economics at Georgetown University and politics at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Tim Hay

Tim Hay is a Principal of Synthesis Media LLC and a veteran journalist with more than 15 years’ experience in newsrooms.

Tim worked for eight years at The Wall Street Journal covering technology startups and venture capital firms. He also worked for a chain of daily papers that includes the Oakland Tribune and the San Mateo County Times, as well as for the St. Croix Avis in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

He transitioned into public relations in 2015, and he has gotten coverage for his clients in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, Fortune, Bloomberg Radio, Reuters and other top media outlets.

Tim served two terms as the secretary of the Mandarin-English Toastmasters Club in San Francisco, and before going into journalism worked as a teacher with the Tohono O’odham Nation in Arizona.
